Homemade Syrups For Coughs With Phlegm
Homemade syrups such as watercress with honey or onion are excellent for treating cough with phlegm because they have expectorant properties that will help eliminate secretions present in the airways, helping to improve the cough in a few days.
However, if in addition to cough there is fever, malaise, green phlegm or shortness of breath, it may indicate the presence of acute bronchitis or pneumonia and therefore it is best to see a doctor for a complete examination to verify the cause of the symptoms and the best treatment is indicated.

Other useful tips to combat cough are to avoid drafts and keep the throat hydrated, ingesting small sips of water several times a day. Doing inhalations with 1 liter of boiling water and 1 drop of essential oil of basil, thyme or ginger also helps to decongest the nose. These last medicinal plants can also be used in the same way for an immersion bath, being also indicated for children and babies.
