4 Home Remedies For Diverticulitis

To prevent diverticulitis crises, you can include in your diet some home remedies such as wheat bran, drinking 1 glass of green juice per day and drinking carqueja tea with ginger, for example.

Diverticulitis is a disease where inflammation and infection of the diverticula, which are small folds or sacs that arise in the walls of the intestine, especially in the last portion of the colon, occurs. This situation can cause alternating periods of diarrhea and constipation.

1. Wheat bran

4 Home Remedies for Diverticulitis

Wheat bran is an excellent home remedy to complement the medical treatment of diverticulitis, because in addition to being rich in fiber, it is tonic, fortifying and revitalizing, helping to soothe the inflamed mucous membranes of the intestine.

It is recommended to include 1 tablespoon of wheat bran per day, which can be divided into several meals and added little by little in soups, bean broths, fruit juices or meringues.

2. Carqueja tea with ginger

Carqueja has properties that improve intestinal transit and reduce gas production, facilitating digestion and preventing inflammation of the diverticula. On the other hand, ginger improves circulation, reduces symptoms such as nausea, vomiting and calms the bowel, being an excellent combination to treat and prevent diverticulitis.

To prepare the tea, add 1 tablespoon of carqueja plus 1 tablespoon of ginger in a cup of boiling water, letting the mixture steep for 10 minutes before straining and drinking.

3. Green juice with ginger

Drinking a glass of green juice daily helps to increase fiber intake throughout the day, facilitating intestinal transit, avoiding the need to strain to eliminate stool and thus, avoid diverticulitis.
