Teas To Combat Fluid Retention

Teas, by themselves increase urine production, so they can all help to combat fluid retention, helping to treat body swelling. However, certain medicinal plants, when used in the form of tea have an excellent draining effect, as in the case of anise, horsetail or rosemary, for example.

    Place the ingredients in a saucepan and let them boil for 5 minutes. Then let cool and strain. Drink the tea 3 times a day, between meals. The mixture can be sweetened with 1 tablespoon of honey.

  • 1 tablespoon of horsetail;
  • 1 cup of boiling water.
  • How to prepare

    Add horsetail in boiling water and let stand for 10 minutes, properly covered. Strain and then drink. Up to 3 cups of horsetail tea can be taken per day. 

    Horsetail should not be consumed for more than 7 days, nor during pregnancy or in case of heart or kidney failure.

    3. Rosemary tea

    Rosemary is another plant with excellent diuretic properties that can be used to reduce fluid retention in the body. However, it should be avoided in children, women who are pregnant and men with prostate problems.

    Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons of dried rosemary leaves;
  • 1 cup of boiling water
  • How to prepare

    Place the leaves inside the brew with boiling water and wait for 5 to 10 minutes. Afterwards, strain it and drink it. This tea can be used between 2 to 3 times a day. 

    In some people, rosemary can cause stomach irritation when consumed in excess, so it should also be avoided in those who have gastrointestinal problems. 

    To increase the effect of the home remedy, it is also important to decrease salt intake and engage in regular physical activity, such as walking, for example.
