5 Home and Natural Remedies for Stomach Pain

Some excellent home remedies for stomach pain are eating lettuce leaves or eating a piece of raw potato, as these foods have properties that soothe the stomach, relieving the pain quickly.

1. Raw potato juice

    Grate the potato and squeeze it into a clean cloth until all the juice comes out and then drink it. This home remedy can be taken daily, several times a day and has no contraindications.  

    2. Lettuce leaf tea

    A good home remedy for stomach pain is to drink lettuce tea every day, thanks to its leaves being a natural antacid.

    Ingredients:

  • 80 g of lettuce;
  • 1 liter of water
  • How to prepare:

    To prepare this tea, put all the ingredients together in a pot and let it boil for about 5 minutes, then let it stand covered for 10 minutes, and then it should be strained. This tea can be drunk 4 times a day, both on an empty stomach and between meals. 

    3. Mugwort tea

    An excellent home treatment for stomach pain is mugwort tea due to its digestive, soothing and diuretic properties.

    Ingredients:

  • 10 to 15 mugwort leaves;
  • 1 cup of boiling water.
  • How to prepare:

    Add the mugwort leaves into the cup of boiling water and let cool for 15 minutes, enough time for the tea to be lukewarm. Drink one cup of tea 2 to 3 times per day. 

    4. Dandelion tea

  • 1 tablespoon of dried dandelion leaves;
  • 1 cup of boiling water.

    Place ingredients in a cup, steep for 10 minutes and drink to follow. 

    5. Carrot syrup with apple

    Carrot syrup with apple is a great home remedy for abdominal cramps and diarrhea. It is very easy to prepare and effective in combating these symptoms.

    Ingredients:

  • 1/2 grated carrot;
  • 1/2 grated apple;
  • 5 tablespoons of honey.
  • How to prepare:

    Boil all the ingredients in a double boiler for about 30 minutes over low heat. Then let the mixture cool and place it in a clean glass jar with a lid. Take 2 tablespoons of this syrup per day for the duration of the diarrhea. 

    In addition to the options named above you can also drink Zacate, Filipendula ulmaria or Hops tea, these are other options that serve as home remedies and can be used to treat pain.

    Stomach pain can be caused by poor diet, emotional problems or by the ingestion of some medication ingested for several days, as in the case of anti-inflammatory drugs, which are recommended to be taken with meals to reduce the chances of the appearance of belly pain.

    Tips to relieve stomach pain

    To relieve stomach pain it is advised:

  • Do not consume alcoholic beverages, soft drinks or beverages containing caffeine;
  • Consume easily digestible foods, being able to ingest: soups; fruits without peel preferring apple, pear, peach and papaya; cooked vegetables such as carrot, eggplant, pumpkin and zucchini; mashed potato, sweet potato or other vegetable (without milk and butter); white meats of chicken or turkey, without skin and shredded or ground;
  • Avoid eating foods rich in fat, yellow cheese, sausages, sauces in general, picbefore, cubes, frozen foods such as pizzas or nuggets and fast food;
  • Take medications for stomach pain, under medical indication and if necessary. Know what they are;
  • Perform regular physical activity, because many times the pain is associated with stress or illness due to poor diet.
  • As some possible causes of stomach pain are gastritis, poor diet, nervousness, anxiety, stress, presence of H. Pylori in the stomach or bulimia, all these situations should be properly evaluated by the doctor and treated to help combat stomach pain.
