3 Home Remedies To Treat Miliaria (heat Rash)

An excellent home remedy for heat rash is to take a bath with oatmeal or apply an aloe vera gel, as they have properties that help reduce itching and soothe skin irritation. 

Heat rash is a skin reaction to sweat, which is very common in infants and children, but can also affect adults, mainly those who are bedridden and on the hottest days of the year. Normally the rash does not require any specific treatment, being indicated to keep the skin always clean and properly dry. 

However, to relieve redness and itching, it may be useful to use some of the following home remedies:

Aloe is a medicinal plant that contains folic acid, vitamins and calcium in its composition, attributing its healing, nourishing, regenerating, moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties, and should be prepared as follows: 

Ingredients

  • 2 aloe leaves;
  • Towel.
  • How to prepare

    Cut 2 aloe leaves in half and remove the gel from the leaf with the help of a spoon. Place the gel in a container with a lid. Then, wet a towel and spread the gel on it and place it on the areas where the rash appeared. This procedure can be done 3 times a day.

    2. Oatmeal water

    Oats have many properties that promote health and proper functioning of the body, thanks to its components such as pantothenic acid, beta glucans, vitamin B1 and B2 and amino acids. As it presents soothing and skin protective properties, it is excellent for treating miliaria. 

    Ingredients

  • 25 g of oats;
  • 1 liter of water.
  • Method of preparation

    Mix the oats and water and store in a container. Take bath with lukewarm water (warm or hot water tends to make itching worse) and use a soap suitable for your skin, then wash the body with the oatmeal water.

    If the oatmeal water will be used on a baby, you should bathe the baby with the appropriate soap, discard the water and then add the mixture, leaving the child for about 2 minutes in contact with the water. 

    3. Chamomile Compresses

    Chamomile is excellent for treating skin problems such as miliaria, due to its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, to relieve itching and redness. So chamomile compresses can be placed on the affected region, preparing them as follows:

    Ingredients

  • 20 to 30 g of fresh or dried chamomile flowers;
  • 500 ml of boiling water;
  • Clean cloth or gauze.
  • Mode of preparation

    Add the chamomile flowers to the boiling water. Let stand for 15 minutes, strain the mixture and moisten the cloth. These compresses should be applied in the morning and at night, as long as the rash remains.
