3 Home Remedies For Brown Discharge
Brown discharge, although it may seem worrisome, is not normally a sign of a serious problem; this usually occurs at the end of menstruation or when taking hormonal medications for thyroid problems, for example.
However, this type of discharge can also indicate more serious situations that need treatment, such as a gonorrhea infection or even pelvic inflammatory disease, and it is always advisable to consult a gynecologist.
While waiting for a consultation, there are certain natural treatments that can help alleviate the discomfort caused by the discharge, however, these should not replace medical treatment.
Learn what the main causes of brown discharge are and when to be concerned.
1. Malaleuca essential oil
Malaleuca, also known as tea tree or tea tree, is a medicinal plant with strong anti-inflammatory and antiseptic properties that help fight various types of infections in the vaginal and genital region, relieving symptoms faster.
To use the essential oil you should pour between 5 to 10 drops in a small amount of vegetable oil, such as sweet almond, evening primrose or coconut oil, for example, and then place the mixture on a sanitary napkin and use during the day to relieve symptoms.
2. Juniper tea
Since brown discharge can also, usually, be caused by a gonorrhea infection, juniper tea can also be an excellent natural choice, as this is a plant traditionally used to treat such cases due to its antimicrobial and antiseptic properties.

How to prepare
Place the water and juniper berries in a pot, bring to the fire and, after it boils, keep it for 7 to 10 minutes. After the time has elapsed, wait for it to cool covered for 10 minutes and, to finish, strain the mixture and drink between meals.
Juniper tea may also have a somniferous effect, for this reason, some people may feel sleepy after drinking it.
3. Plain yogurt
Plain yogurt is one of the most commonly used home remedies for vaginal health and is usually highly recommended for fungal infections such as candidiasis. However, since it has natural probiotics, it contributes to the regulation of the entire vaginal flora and helps not only to treat excess fungus, but also to prevent the development of harmful bacteria.
To use yogurt, the vaginal area should be properly cleaned and then introduced inside with the help of a syringe. Finally, a good tip is to also insert a tampon to avoid soiling the underwear during the day.
Yogurt should be applied 2 times a day, always washing the region before doing so. Ideally, the yogurt should be homemade and not from the supermarket, however, at the very least it should not have added sugars, as sugar helps the development of bacteria. See what are the health benefits of yogurt.
