The Benefits of White Tea for Skin: More than Just a Pretty Face

If you’ve been drinking white tea for health benefits, it’s time to drink it for beauty too. White tea has shown some promising results when used as a skin care product. For example, one study found that the antioxidant levels of white and green teas were higher than those in grape seed extract or vitamin E oil. Another study found that applying a cream containing green tea polyphenols can protect against UV-induced erythema (redness) and an increase in skin thickness caused by exposure to ultraviolet radiation (UVR). The conclusion from this research is that “green tea may be a potential source of natural protection against UVR-induced photodamage.”

A recent article published in “Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention” lays out the findings from a study that shows white tea has been shown to have potent anti-cancer properties.
